Hurst College Pool: Advancing Your Child’s Swimming Journey

The Hurst College pool is 25 meters long and provides the next step for your child's swimming progression.

It has a 1 meter depth at the shallow end and a 3 meter deep end, with a comfortable water temperature maintained at around 28-29 degrees C. The pool has 4 designated lanes, with separate-sex changing rooms and ample space for parents to watch from poolside.

During lessons, four classes run concurrently - one in each lane (one of which is a starter lane for children transitioning from the Clayton Pool). We allow a maximum of eight children per lane/lesson.

As children progress, our lessons emphasise both the technical and physical aspects of swimming, including:

- Mastery of the four swimming strokes: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, and Butterfly

- Opportunities to earn a variety of exciting Swim England accredited awards and certificates

- Development of stamina and technique as swimmers advance through the levels

- Important lifesaving skills

- And most importantly, to have fun in the water!

Joining the Starter Lane: To qualify for the starter lane, your child should be confident in swimming at least 20 meters using recognised strokes: front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke (approximately equivalent to Stage 4 in Swim England).
